Getting your body back after having your baby~

Lets face it, getting in shape after having a baby can be a challenge. Whether it’s finding the time or having the energy.  I have four kids so I can totally relate… you’re sleep deprived, your body aches, the house is a disaster, the dog needs a bath, you have to make dinner, yada, yada, yada…I could go on and on!  😉  Even the thought of exercising and sweating can be exhausting.  And who wouldn’t rather just cuddle up next to that sweet baby and take a much-needed nap?  Savorying the time with your little one is the greatest and they are only this little for such a short amount of time, right? But if you want to get that smokin hot Mama body you’re gonna have to get up and get moving.

Start slow and remember that it may take some time before you see results, after all it took 9 months to gain the baby weight so don’t be discouraged if it takes just as long to take it off.  Make exercise a part of your daily routine and choose something you find enjoyable.  It could be something as simple as strapping that sweet little babe in the stroller or the baby carrier and getting outside for a walk.  The fresh air and sunshine will do wonders for the both of you, mentally and physically for you.  Now I realize not everybody lives in sunny California like me, so if it’s cold outside then find something you can do inside.  Grab a friend and look into joining a local gym or a mommy and me class.  Group classes and workout buddies are great all around.  Not only will it be great for your sanity to have other Moms to vent to, I mean chat with, but you will also have people to help keep you on track and hold you accountable. The support can be amazing, especially at first when you feel like just giving up.  Agree to call each other when times get tough or if you simply need a little encouragement.

There are also a ton of great programs and tools out there today to assist in getting in shape, from weight loss programs like Nutrisystem that help with meal planning and portion control to the fit bit to help track your daily steps, calories burned, calories eaten and exercise.  I wear my fit bit daily and try to do at least 10,000 steps a day, but you can start slow and make your goal whatever works for you.  I highly recommend it.  Recently I have been hearing a lot of hype about the beachbody|21 day fix  program which includes exercise videos you can do at home. If you are looking for something more intense with quicker results then this might be something for you.  I’ve seen a lot of beachbody support groups popping up on fb and people seem to be having amazing results.  Love the idea and seriously considering trying it myself.  Just remember to have fun and keep it real by picking an activity that you’ll stick with …by no means do you have to go out and run a marathon.  Just move. 🙂

These are just a few things that I have tried in the past and present or have been looking into trying.  I am not a personal trainer or a nutritionist…just giving my advice and a nudge of encouragement.  You can do it! 🙂
