As a San Diego newborn photographer, I’m lucky to meet so many wonderful families during such an unforgettable chapter in their lives—and Baby George’s session was one of those that sticks with you. Born on February 1, 2015, George came to my studio at just 10 days old and was an absolute dream to photograph.

From the moment he arrived, George was calm, sleepy, and perfectly content—everything you hope for in a newborn session. With his chubby little cheeks, soft light features, and peaceful personality, he made it easy to move through a variety of setups in a short amount of time. He only woke once during the session, just long enough to take a look around before settling right back in.

Although I typically lean toward soft neutrals in my styling, I really enjoyed incorporating a deeper, richer blue into George’s session. It added warmth and depth to his gallery and complemented his features beautifully. It’s always fun to step slightly outside my usual palette when it fits the baby so well.

This was a mini session, but we accomplished so much in a short time—proving once again that when babies are happy and relaxed, everything falls into place. The studio was quiet, cozy, and filled with that brand-new energy only a 10-day-old can bring.

George’s parents were wonderful to work with—kind, easygoing, and completely in love with their new little guy. I’m grateful to them for trusting me to document this milestone, and I look forward to watching George grow in the years ahead.
